India, Algeria all set to deepen ties against Pak-based Salafi terrorists

India and Algeria are exploring ties to boost counter-terror partnership against common terror threat from Pak-based Salafi forces.

The issue was in focus when Indian MPs on a tour of key states in the Arab world met stakeholders in Algeria (currently a non-permanent member of UNSC), ET has learnt.

The delegation to Algeria (known for its secular credentials) is being led by BJP MP Baijayant Panda.

During their four-day visit, the members of the delegation are focusing on cross-border terrorism.

“Taking India’s message to the world! A warm welcome to all-party delegation of Members of Parliament led by Baijayant Jay Panda, upon their arrival in #Algiers…,” said a post on X by Indian embassy in Algeria.

Algeria, which has battled terrorism in the past, has lukewarm ties with Pakistan over ISI’s alleged links with Algerian terror group, Islamic Salvation Front.
