Indian Air Force transport aircraft crash lands in West Bengal’s Bagdogra, crew safe


An Indian Air Force transport aircraft crash landed in West Bengal’s Bagdogra on Friday, officials told PTI. The crew of the AN-32 aircraft are safe, they said.

The IAF added that the aircraft is being recovered from the site and confirmed that its crew is safe.

“An accident involving an AN-32 transport aircraft at Bagdogra airport has come to light today. The aircraft is being recovered from the site. The crew of the aircraft is safe,” IAF said in a statement.

Earlier in the day, one of Indian Air Force’s (IAF) Jaguar fighter aircraft crashed in Panchkula, Haryana, which had taken off from the Ambala airbase on a training sortie.

As per officials, the pilot had ejected from the aircraft and a Court of Inquiry has been ordered into the accident. The IAF said that the pilot successfully maneuvered the aircraft away from inhabited areas before ejecting safely.
