IRCTC Down: Passengers looking to book train tickets via the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) faced a major setback as the platform experienced a sudden outage on Wednesday morning. Many users across the country reported difficulties accessing the website, leaving them unable to secure reservations, especially during the critical Tatkal booking period.

According to outage outage-tracking website Downdetector, complaints about IRCTC’s service disruption began surfacing around 8:28 am IST. By 8:30 am, a significant surge in reports indicated that users were struggling to access the platform. The issue arose just minutes before the AC Tatkal booking window, which opens at 10 am, intensifying frustration among passengers.
The outage appears to be widespread, with reports pouring in from major metropolitan areas, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, and Chennai. Downdetector’s outage map suggests that the disruption is affecting users across the country rather than being confined to a specific region.
This is not the first time IRCTC has faced technical difficulties during peak hours. A similar outage was reported in January this year, coinciding with the Tatkal booking rush.

As customers raised complaints, the IRCTC’s official social handle claimed that there was “no issue in booking.” It added, “There may some temporary issue. Kindly try again after clearing browsing history and cache.”

Many users reported being stuck in the booking process and being unable to confirm their tickets, with some even tagging Prime Minister Narendra Modi in their tweets. Complaints highlighted failed transactions and an unresponsive platform, adding to the growing discontent among travelers.
