The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has just launched a brand-new mobile app called SwaRail.
Having said that, this app is set to bring almost all railway services together under one roof, making it easier than ever to plan and enjoy train travel in India.
Developed by the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), SwaRail is currently available for Android users to test on the Google Play Store, as per India Today.
Indian Railways Swarail APP: What Makes SwaRail Special?
SwaRail is being called a “SuperApp.” It combines many features that were earlier scattered across different apps. From booking tickets to live train tracking, from ordering meals to finding tourism packages, SwaRail covers it all in a single easy-to-use platform.
Here’s what stands out:
- Simple Sign-In: You can log in using your existing IRCTC account or create a new one quickly with Single Sign-On (SSO).
- Clean and Modern Dashboard: The app’s home screen is neat and user-friendly, letting you check your PNR status, order food, browse station services, and more, without switching tabs or logging in repeatedly.
- Live Train Tracking: One of the most useful features, this gives real-time updates on train arrival times, delays, and platform details, a must-have for anyone tired of waiting without proper information.
Along with railway services, the app offers hotel bookings, sightseeing tours, and even travel insurance options.
At present, SwaRail is only available in beta for Android devices. Since it is still in testing, users might face occasional glitches or minor bugs, but these will be fixed soon as the app improves. iPhone users will need to wait for the iOS version to roll out.
