Jhanak, the Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja starrer TV serial has been captivating the audiences through its engaging storyline and interesting plot twists. Now, the makers are set to introduce another generational leap in the storyline, twice in two months. The recent 5-year jump will be followed by a dramatic 20-year leap in June 2025. Notably, due to the decision, the viewers might see a completely new star cast, marking a fresh chapter in the storyline.
Kajal Pisal, who plays Tanuja Bose in the show, has confirmed the development and expressed mixed emotions about the upcoming changes. Talking to ETimesTV, she said, “Yes, the show will undergo a five-year leap in May, followed by a 20-year leap in June. After that, every actor, including me, will be replaced. I’m still not sure when our last day of work will be, but this is what I know for now.”
Talking about her journey with the show, she added, “I will surely miss the entire unit and cast of Jhanak. I am overjoyed to be a member of this team, and I hope to get such a team to work with in the future.”
“This show has been the best of my career. I will miss everybody. At the same time, I understand that the show needs this leap and the story needs to move forward,” said Kajal.
As for her plans after Jhanak, she said, “I will not be taking a break from work. If a good opportunity comes my way, I will seize it. And if that takes some time, I might go on vacation as well.”
Jhanak premiered on Star Plus in November 2023. Produced under Magic Moments Motion Pictures, it is reportedly a loose adaptation of Star Jalsha’s Bengali series Jol Nupur.
The plot revolves around Jhanak, a young woman who, following her mother’s death, is forced into a marriage of convenience to avoid an obsessive stalker. This marriage involves her marrying her cousin Arshi’s fiancé, Aniruddh, whom she develops romantic feelings for while living in the Bose house.
Coming back to Kajal, she has also appeared in shows like Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Naagin and Sirf Tum, among others.
