Kamalika Guha opened up about her admiration for Smriti Irani and shared her thoughts on the potential revival of their iconic serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.

Kamalika Guha, best known for portraying Gayatri Jamnadas Virani in the iconic television serial Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, recently shared her thoughts on the much-speculated second season of the show. The veteran actress also reflected on Smriti Irani’s unforgettable portrayal of “Tulsi Virani”, acknowledging the character’s lasting impact on Indian television. Expressing her enthusiasm for a possible revival, Guha said she is excited about the buzz surrounding the reboot, which continues to gain momentum across social media.
In a candid conversation, Kamalika Guha was asked about the revival of her longest-running show, Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. To this, she revealed not getting any official confirmation from the makers regarding the same report, but expressed her excitement about the same. “Haan Maine suna hai ki show phirse revive hone wala hai lekin kuch concrete mere sath toh baat nhi huya hai. Let’s see agar hota hai toh bahut badhiya (Yes, I have heard that the show is going to be revived, but nothing concrete has been informed to me. Let’s see if it happens, then it will be great),” she told the media.
In the same conversation, Kamalika Guha also talked about her love for Smriti Irani and highlighted the latter’s startling comeback on television after more than a decade. The actress said, “Smriti is a wonderful actor. Aur Smriti ka acting chorna (And Smriti leaving acting) is a loss to the acting industry because she is really wonderful and extremely talented.”
FYI: Smriti Irani was last seen in a 16-episode horror thriller mini-series, Ek Thhi Naayka, which premiered in March 2013 on Life OK. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, the series was made in order to promote her then-upcoming film, Ek Thi Daayan, starring Emraan Hashmi, Kalki Koechlin, Konkona Sen Sharma and Huma Qureshi in lead roles.
The candid confessions from the actress garnered much appreciation from social media users, with a few of them also reflecting back on Guha’s character in the serial. One of her fans wrote, “Omg she is still the same.” Another person added, “She also excellent she played the role of Gayatri from 2000 to 2007, the longest running serial she has worked.” Someone said, “Am more excited about this yehhhhhhh.” While one user added, “This vibe is everything,” a comment read, “Very nyc pls revive kre serial keep it up.”
At an event last month, Ektaa Kapoor confirmed the speculation surrounding the reboot of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, revealing that the revival will comprise 150 episodes. She shared that the decision stemmed from the deep affection the team still holds for the iconic show. “The love we have for this program brought everyone related to it back together to complete just those 150 episodes to reach that 2000-episode mark. This show deserves that,” she stated, according to a report by The Free Press Journal.
As per reports, the official announcement about the reboot of KSBKBT will be in June this year.
