The South Korean carmaker Kia has introduced a pickup truck named Tasman. It has been unveiled in Kia’s homeland and will be sold there initially.
It has been reported that the model will arrive in the South Korean market in 2025. Later, it will be permitted to reach other parts of the world including the Middle East, Australia and Africa. It will compete directly with Toyota’s one of the hot-selling products Hilux.
Trims and USP’s
According to the details available on the internet, the newly released Kia Tasman has been introduced in both single-cab and double-cab versions. The company has offered it in three variants: Base, X-Line, and the off-road-focused X-Pro. The price details are not known yet.
To give a wider choice in the model, the comapny has released it in four configurations that include Single Decker, Double Decker, Sports Bar and Ladder Rack. The brand says the Tasman offers a payload capacity of 1,195 kg in 2WD mode, while the maximum towing capacity goes up to 3,500 kg.
Looks and Style
In terms of the design, it features a vertically staged headlight setup, paired with integrated C-shaped LED DRLs. A massive bonnet blacked-out grill in the front is what makes it more aggressive in the segment. It gets heavy cladding on the sides, which makes it look appealing, and the all-terrain thick tyres add an extra feather to its overall road presence.
Notable Elements
Talking about the X-Line and X-Pro variants, the company is offering all-wheel-drive as standard. It can be opted in the base trim as well (optional). The AWD trims allow the customers to enjoy three driving modes: Eco, Smart, & Sport, allowing them to handle any road conditions. It also has been given four terrain modes – Desert, Mud, Snow, and Rock. These models make it easy for the vehicle to run effortlessly in extreme off-road conditions.
Engine Options
Under the hood, Tasman is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 277 bhp and 421 Nm of peak torque. It is also available in a 2.2-litre diesel unit, which churns out an overall 207 bhp and 441 Nm.
