Maruti Suzuki Wagnor has been one of the hot-selling products in India, and a big credit goes to its compact design and impressive specious cabin. Today, the model marks 25 years of its production in the Indian market.
It was first introduced in 1999 under the nameplate the ‘Tall Boy’, flaunting the price tag of Rs 3 lakh (ex-showroom). When it was released then, it instantly grabbed a lot of attention from the target audience. It has not just lifted the segment but also pushed the company’s sales figures to the next level.
As per the details shared by the brand, WagnoR has been ranked as India’s highest-selling car for three years in a row. The company said it has retailed over 6.6 lakh CNG models in the country to date, and the number continues to grow with each passing day.

In addition, he said, “From Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology that makes city driving effortless to the Hill Hold Assist that provides confidence on challenging terrains, and its impressive fuel-efficiency, we have designed the WagonR to be a reliable companion. The fact that approximately 44% of our sales come from first-time buyers, and roughly one in every four customers chooses to repurchase the iconic WagonR, speaks volumes about the trust customers have placed in the brand.”
Price Range
Currently, the Maruti Wagon R comes at the starting price of Rs 5.54 lakh, while the top model goes up to Rs 7.33 lakh (all ex-showroom). It has been offered in 12 variants, allowing customers to have wider options to choose from.
Engine Options
Under the hood, it is available in both petrol and CNG engine options. The former gets 998 cc and 1197 cc, while the latter only can be purchased in the 998 cc option. The powertrain is mated by both Manual & Automatic transmission, offering an impressive mileage under 23.56 to 25.19 kmpl.
