The performance-oriented division of Mercedes-Benz, AMG, is all set to launch its first standalone fully electrified SUV in the global market. It has been reported that the upcoming model will be created entirely in-house by the AMG division, and will use AMG.EA platform.
Mercedes-Benz has already developed models under the AMG badge before. However, this is the first time an EV will be developed solely under the AMG. The decision already has an impressive range of ICE models such as GT Coupe, SL Roadster and the 4-door GT Coupe.
The upcoming AMG’s standalone model will be the second offering, which will use the company’s AMG.EA platform. The report says the vehicle will be treated with some cutting-edge technology, which will make it superior in the segment.

According to the details shared by Teambhp, quoting the head of Mercedes-AMG, Michael Schiebe who said, “With the ‘Born in Affalterbach’ SUV, we are responding to this trend by offering our customers a truly captivating high-performance off-roader based on the AMG.EA platform. Our new high-performance architecture follows a clear philosophy: ‘AMG First, EV Second’. This means that the vehicles not only excel as electric vehicles but also embody the core AMG qualities of emotion and performance.”

Once fully revealed officially, the EV will the Mercedes-AMG E-SUV will compete against the top offerings in the segment. The list includes the BMW XM plug-in hybrid and Porsche’s upcoming electric three-row SUV. It hit the market in 2027.
