Sonipat to Delhi Metro: The plan to connect Haryana’s Sonipat to the Delhi Metro has now rapidly reached its final stage. This project is part of the fourth phase of the Delhi Metro, and it is targeted to be completed by 2028.
Two new metro stations will be built at Kundli and Nathupur in Sonipat, providing convenience to thousands of passengers travelling from Sonipat to Delhi. Officials are working to resolve land acquisition issues and other technical obstacles for this project. This metro corridor will not only ease traffic but will also play an important role in the development of Sonipat.
D.S. Dhesi, Principal Advisor of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), recently chaired a meeting to review the progress of the project. Officials from the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC), Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), and the District Administration attended the meeting. Key issues such as land acquisition, roadwork, and the removal of electricity poles were thoroughly discussed. Dhesi instructed the officials to address these challenges promptly to ensure the project stays on schedule.
21 Stations In 26.5 KM
According to Navbharat Times reports, the total length of this metro corridor will be 26.5 km, and it will have about 21 stations. This corridor will start from Rithala and go till Nathupur. It will include Rithala, Rohini Sector 25, Rohini Sector 26, Rohini Sector 31, Rohini Sector 32, Rohini Sector 36, Barwala, Rohini Sector 35, Rohini Sector 34, Bawana Industrial Area 1 Sector 3, 4, Bawana Industrial Area 1 Sector 1, 2, Bawana JJ Colony, Sanoth, New Sanoth, Depot Station, Bhorgarh Village, Anaaj Mandi Narela, Narela DDA Sports Complex, Narela, Narela Sector 5, Kundli and Nathupur Station.
The total cost of this project has been estimated at Rs 6,230 crore, out of which Rs 5,685.22 crore will be spent in Delhi and Rs 545.77 crore in Haryana. 80% of this expenditure will be borne by the state government and 20% by the central government.
Advantages For The Public
About 50,000 passengers travel to and from Delhi from Sonipat every day. With the construction of this metro corridor, they will be able to reach areas like Bawana, Narela, Nangloi and Najafgarh in Delhi easily. Apart from this, this project will also play an important role in the economic and social development of Sonipat. With the arrival of the metro, the people living here will not only get convenience in traffic, but new employment opportunities will also be created.
Another important aspect of this project is that it is environmentally friendly. Metro is a clean and efficient means of transport, which is beneficial not only for the passengers but also for the environment. With its operation, the congestion of vehicles on the roads will be reduced, and pollution will also decrease.
Committee For Connectivity
Special attention is also being given to the connectivity of the proposed metro station in Nathupur. A committee has been formed for this, which includes officials of HMRTC, the Municipal Corporation and the District Administration. This committee has been instructed to visit the site before February 23 and ensure that the connectivity of the metro station is smooth and convenient for the passengers.
If everything goes as per plan, the people of Sonipat will get metro facility by 2028. This will not only make their life easier but will also reduce the distance between Haryana and Delhi. After the completion of this project, Sonipat can emerge as a major commercial and residential hub.
