Reliance Industries Chairperson, Mukesh Ambani, on Tuesday pledged to infuse Rs 50,000 crore in the state of Assam over the course of the next five years. The industrialist said that the conglomerate would establish an artificial intelligence data centre, world-class hubs of compressed biogas, a seven-star Oberoi Hotel, a mega food park, and also increase the number of Reliance Retail stores by double.
Speaking at the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment & Infrastructure Summit 2025 in Guwahati, Ambani said, “In the previous summit in 2018, Reliance committed an investment of Rs 5,000 crore in Assam, since then our investment in the state has exceeded Rs 12,000 crore.”
He noted that the first priority of Reliance’s investment in the state will be to make ‘Assam tech and AI ready’. “After building worldclass connectivity infrastructure, we will now install high performance computing infrastructure. Reliance will establish an AI-ready data center in Assam. With this, students will benefit from AI-assisted teachers. Patients will benefit from AI-assisted doctors. Agriculture will benefit from AI-assisted farmers. And AI will help Assam’s youth to learn from home and earn from home,” Ambani said.
The businessman informed that Reliance will make Assam a hub of clean and green energy. Ambani said that his company will develop two world-class hubs of compressed biogas or CBG over wastelands in Assam. These units will produce 8 lakh tonnes of clean biogas each year, sufficient to fuel 2 lakh passenger vehicles every day.

“Our third priority is to help Assam become a major supplier of food and non-food consumer products to national and international markets. We will set up a mega food park which will add value to the abundant agriculture and horticulture produce of Assam. We have already set up a world-class bottling plant in Assam for Campa Cola and an independence range of packaged drinking water,” the industrialist said.
Reliance will also double the number of Reliance Retail stores in the state from existing 400 to over 800 stores in the next five years, he said. “Our fifth priority is to boost the high-end hotel and hospitality economy in Assam. Reliance will build a luxurious, seven-star Oberoi hotel in the heart of Assam,” he said.
Ambani noted that these initiatives will help generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for the youth in Assam. Reliance Foundation will also partner with the state government to promote ‘Green Gold’ or bamboo through its ‘Swadesh’ stores, he added.
