Multiple Rounds Fired At Army Vehicle In J&K’s Rajouri, Search Ops Underway

An army vehicle was fired upon in the Sunderbani sector in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. A search operation is ongoing in the area and the Army is on high alert after the incident.

According to sources, the incident took place around 12:45 PM, when the the army vehicle was fired upon in Phall village in Sunderbani sector of the district.

There have been no reports of any injuries or casualties in the firing.

The incident comes hours after the Border Security Force confirmed that it had neutralised a Pakistani intruder after observing a suspicious movement along the international border in Punjab’s Pathankot.

The army said the intruder was shot as he continued to move despite being warned several times.

“Border Security Force (BSF) personnel noticed some suspicious movement in the Border Outpost Tashpatan area along the IB. Despite being challenged by the BSF troops, the intruder did not stop after crossing over onto this side,” officials told news agency PTI.

The identity of the intruder is being ascertained. A BSF spokesperson, Jammu frontier, said a strong protest will be lodged with Pakistan Rangers over the incident.

In another instance reported earlier this year on February 8, terrorists fired at a patrol from a forested area across the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri’s Keri sector. This led to a retaliatory response from Indian soldiers.
