The top carmaker, Nissan has been facing the financial crisis for a long time. To stay on the ground and remain operational in the industry, the company might cut costs and get some relief by selling its global headquarters.

In case you are not aware, the comapny moved its base setup from Tokyo to Yokohama in 2009. Since then, it has been taking care of the business from there. It has been reported that the building of the headquarters is worth over 100 billion yen (roughly 700 million dollars), which might benefit the brand in a certain way.

Deadline

The reports also suggested that the headquarters is one of the assets Nissan plans to sell by the end of March 2026. Ivan Espinosa, the new CEO, has also given notice of impending asset sales. Once the deal is closed, and the facility will be sold out, the company will continue to use it on a lease basis from the new owner.

Closing Factories

Amid the financial crisis, Nissan is likely to put a complete shutdown on its seven factories. The list includes two domestic facilities named Oppama and Shonan. This will impact the huge job losses as 20,000 employees will be cut in the upcoming years.
