Planned To Keep Fighting, But Russians evacuated me ousted leader Bashar Al-Assad’s First Statement After Fleeing Syria

In his first statement after fleeing from Syria, ousted leader Bashar Al-Assad has said that he had planned to keep fighting, but the Russians evacuated him, a report in the Associated Press said.

“First, my departure from Syria was neither planned nor did it occur during the final hours of the battles, as some have claimed. On the contrary, I remained in Damascus, carrying out my duties until the early hours of Sunday 8th December 2024,” Assad said in a written statement from Russia.

In the first address after fleeing Syria, Bashar Al-Assad said that at no point did he consider stepping down or seeking refuge and added that only course of action was to continue fighting against the terrorist onslaught.
