Starting May 1, cab rides booked through Ola, Uber, and Rapido in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and Baramati will charge fares strictly based on Maharashtra government-approved rates—just like autorickshaws.

As per TOI, this move was confirmed by the Indian Gig Workers Front, with its president Keshav Kshirsagar stating that the decision was taken during a meeting of cab drivers held recently.

What Are the New Rates?

  • Rs 37 for the first 1.5 km
  • Rs 25 per km after that

So, if you’re travelling 10 km, you will have to pay around Rs 249.50. Currently, a similar ride usually costs about Rs 175 (non-surge). On Friday at 9 PM, for example, a 10 km UberGo ride from Ghole Road to Salunke Vihar Road was charging Rs 219.

Check Fare on New Website

To make things easy and transparent, a new website — www.onlymeter.in — is being launched.

Here’s how it works:

  • Each cab will have a QR code and a short guide displayed inside.
  • After your ride, visit the site and enter the distance you travelled.
  • The website will show the exact fare you need to pay based on the govt-approved rate.

Currently, around 45,000 cabs operate under these app-based platforms in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. All of them are expected to follow the new rule.
