In Punjab, the ongoing farmers’ protest has intensified with police raiding the homes of farmer leaders in Sangrur. This comes amid a tense meeting between Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and farmer union leaders. CM Mann appealed to farmers to refrain from disruptive protests like blocking roads, railways, or declaring a state shutdown, as he believes such actions only inconvenience the public and impact the livelihoods of other communities. However, during the meeting, farmers claimed that the CM abruptly left due to an eye infection after briefly discussing some of their demands. They also expressed frustration, saying that the Chief Minister did not address all their concerns and left prematurely, despite their request for more time.Farmers are now planning a major protest on March 5, demanding a legal guarantee for Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for crops, among other issues. The protests, including a hunger strike at Shambhu and Khanoori borders, are gaining momentum as farmers continue to press for their demands. The growing tension between the state government and farmers reflects the ongoing struggle over agricultural reforms and the rights of farmers in Punjab.
