Ram Kapoor needs no introduction. The actor has garnered a devout fan following. Whether it is on television, OTT platforms, or the film industry, he has gradually carved a niche for himself in the world of glitz and glam. But his journey to fame was not a cakewalk. He once had a huge financial crunch that made him rely completely on his wife Gautami’s income and Ram KJpoor was getting no work during that time.
The Bade Acche Lagte Hai star recently sat for an interview where he candidly shared an anecdote from his personal life. He also discussed the earnings of television actors and the achievements of his friends, Sakshi Tanwar and Ronit Roy.
Ram Kapoor, in an interview with Humans of Bombay, offered fans a peek into his thoughts on investments. He stated that if television actors invest wisely, they will have enough money for everything they need in life.
Ram Kapoor added, “When you make it to the top like Ronit Roy, Sakshi, and me, and you are sensible, then you have made enough for your three or four generations. I know Ronit and Sakshi have done this, and they are set for four generations.”
Giving his example and how he made the right investments during the peak of his television acting career, the actor said, “For 15–20 years, I made a salary cheque of a ridiculously high amount. Television is a dog’s life; if you make it, then it’s fine.”
Ram Kapoor recalled that once there was a time when he had to live on his wife Gautami’s income. Elaborating on it, he said, “One year after my wedding, I had to live on Gautami’s income because I had no work. That nobody remembers. Gautami was doing Lipstick at that time. I was doing nothing. When I started, I began at Rs 1,500 per day at Doordarshan. Yes, that was my start. You have to be prepared for starting again.”
Ram Kapoor also talked about Ronit Roy and Sakshi Tanwar’s success and their journey in the industry. Referring to Ronit as a ‘senior,’ the actor said, “He started in films, but he didn’t make it. He didn’t have money to eat till Ektaa took him on television, after that, he never looked back. But he has seen failure, so when he got success, from day 1, he respected it. So I looked at Ronit, and I learned a little bit from Ronit. His investments have always been correct.”
Citing the example of Sakshi Tanwar, Ram Kapoor added, “Sakshi is a very sensible girl. She doesn’t have the habit of fancy cars like I do. She has enough money for 6 generations because she spends very wisely.”
Workwise, Ram Kapoor recently starred in the JioHotstar web series Mistry. It also featured Mona Singh and Abhiijeet Chitre in crucial roles. Directed by Rishab Seth and produced by Banijay Asia in collaboration with Universal International Studios, Mistry is an adaptation of the American superhit series Monk.
Ram Kapoor is seen as Armaan Mistry, a brilliant and quirky detective battling OCD, blending suspense and comedy with clever mysteries and a unique protagonist.
