RCB rope in former KKR support staff Omkar Salvi as fast-bowling coach ahead of IPL 2025: Reports

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have roped in former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) assistant bowling coach Omkar Salvi ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, according to several media reports. Salvi, who did wonders with Mumbai recently in domestic cricket, will join RCB after the competition of the ongoing season. Reportedly, Salvi has been roped in as the fast-bowling coach at RCB. This will be Salvi’s second IPL stint after spending time at KKR.

Salvi has kept himself low-profile as far his coaching stints are concerned. He has done a great job with Mumbai, leading them to Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup titles recently and will oversee them in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament as well.

Salvi is contracted with Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) until March 2025. For the unknown he is the younger brother of former India international Avishkar Salvi. Omkar has played just one List-A game for Railways in 2005.

Meanwhile, RCB have appointed former wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik as batting coach and mentor ahead of IPL 2025. One of the most popular franchises in franchise league cricket, RCB have never won an IPL title and would be aiming for the silverware in the upcoming season.

Ahead of IPL 2025, RCB have retained just thre players – Virat Kohli ( 21 crore), Rajat Patidar ( 11 crore) and Yash Dayal ( 5 crore). They have released their captain Faf du Plessis and will be looking for one in the mega auction which is scheduled for November 24 and 25.

The BCCI last week announced the final list of 574 players who will go under the hammer in the auction of which 366 are Indians and 208 are overseas, including 3 players from associate nations. The auction will include 318 Indian uncapped players and 12 uncapped overseas players. 204 slots will be up for grabs with 70 available slots for overseas players. 2 Crore is the highest reserve price with 81 players opting to be in the highest bracket.
