Shritama Mukherjee who is known for her distinctive roles in popular daily soaps such as Gustakh Dil has been away from the limelight for some time now. After her break, the actress is set to make her comeback in the entertainment world with a new music video with Kumar Sanu and Akriti Kakar. During her latest interview, the actress spoke about her marriage and its impact on her career, including whether tying a knot can act as an impediment for women in terms of finding good work.
In a conversation with Etimes, Shritama Mukherjee was asked if marriage is a setback in an actor’s career. She said, “If you believe marriage will hold back your career, then it will. But if you’re clear about your goals, what you want to achieve, and where you want to go, nothing can stop you. Things have changed. What was once seen as a setback isn’t anymore. Men today understand that women have their own careers, and they support them, just as women have supported men for generations. Marriage is a choice now, not a compulsion like it used to be.” She added that with OTT, actors are no longer limited to large screens; they may appear on any mobile screen.
During the same interview, Shritama was asked if she would prefer to be back on TV or try other mediums. The actress said that although she is inclined towards TV since it has given her recognition so far, she also believes in exploring. She said, “As an actor, I believe in progression and exploring new mediums for creative fulfillment. I have yet to experience the web, but I believe it will happen soon.”
Shritama made her debut with the show Dekha Ek Khwaab in 2011, as Rajkumari Jainandini. Later, she played the role of Vinnie (Vinita) in the youth series Best Friends Forever. Moving on, she has been cast in other popular shows like Tashan-e-Ishq, Do Dil Ek Jaan and Gustakh Dil. She made her cinematic debut with Soombe, a Tulu film directed by Saikrishna Kudla.
The actress affirmed a revived sense of energy after her break and noted that she has a host of upcoming projects lined up for fans. She said, “I have no plans to pause or slow down again. You’ll be seeing me on your screens very soon.”
