With OTT platforms diverting a significant section of the audience to their content, we get to see a notable shift in the choices of programmes and storylines. Additionally, global content with a limited period of time is tracking much attention. Meanwhile, Indian television shows are also falling prey to a major dip in the TRPs. Amid them, two popular shows – Ekta Kapoor’s Pyaar Ki Rahein and Sony Sab’s Tenali Rama 2 are on the verge of going off air very soon.
According to a report by Tellychakkar, Tenali Rama Season 2, one of SAB TV’s beloved historical comedies, will bid adieu to television screens. The surprising development reportedly came in, following the makers’ decision to shift their episodes to late-night slots, leaving the fans disheartened. They were recently shifted to the 10 pm slot due to a significant dip in the TRP during its prime-time position.
Although the final episode’s airing date on national television has not been officially confirmed, sources related to the development have revealed that the show is approaching its end.
Talking about the series, it stars Krishna Bharadwaj in the titular role, alongside Pankaj Berry as Tathacharya: Krishnadevraya’s father figure, Manav Gohil as Maharaja Krishnadevaraya, Jiten Mukhi as Mahamantri Timmarasu, then replaced by Amit Pachori, Sumit Kaul as Girgit Raj and Pavitra Punia as Laila, Sultanet assassin and a Vishkanya. Despite its strong beginning, the series has already carved out a special place with its unique blend of humour, wisdom and Indian folklore.
Now that the show is set to go off air, fans have begun flooding social media platforms showing their disappointment.

True That.. major reason for the show going off air is low TRP, sadly majority of our Indian Audience wants only Saas Bahu Show. Tenali Rama was the best family show undoubtedly, learnt lot of things too— Mr.Human (@MrHuman777) November 13, 2020
It felt so good when Sab TV showed a promo of Tenali Rama being telecast for more 2 weeks and then going off air. They are respecting the audience and welcoming the new show happily unlike a certain channel who just axes shows without even giving it time for proper closure.🙂— -harshiey’s syrup⁷ (@HarshitaxDiary) November 3, 2020

Similarly, in a report by Times Now, Dangal TV’s Pyaar Ki Raahein, produced by Ekta Kapoor under her Balaji Telefilms, is also on the verge of going off air by the channel. But the reason behind this alleged closure is not the dip in TRP but rather the cunningness of the makers. Sources close to the development revealed the real reason behind the series, “Balaji’s new show ‘Pyaar Ki Raahein’ is going to end soon. The reason is that Balaji is releasing new episodes of the show on its app before the channel ‘Dangal’. That is why the channel talked to the makers and decided not to release it further on Dangal. A total of 90 episodes of the show will be shot.”
Starring Rachana Parulkar and Manav Dua in the lead, Pyaar Ki Raahein showcases a beautiful love story.
Apart from these two, Kumkum Bhagya, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab, Apollena – Sapno Ki Unchi Udann, Megha Barsenge, Saajanji Ghar Aaye and Iss Ishq Ka Rabb Rakha are some other serials which are also suffering a dip in the TRP and are soon going to be off-air as per another report by Times Now.
