A day after US-Ukraine talks in Saudi Arabia, Ukraine has said it is ready to accept an immediate 30-day ceasefire with Russia proposed by the US. Following this, the Trump administration also lifted the suspension of military aid and intelligence sharing for Ukraine.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer welcomed this ceasefire news and said that ‘it is an important for peace in Ukraine.’ He added that now they all need is to redouble the efforts to get to a lasting and secure peace as soon as possible.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, “I warmly welcome the agreement today and congratulate President Trump and President Zelenskyy for this remarkable breakthrough. French President Emmanuel Macron said that ‘his country and its partners remain committed to a solid and lasting peace, supported by robust security guarantees for Ukraine.’
He posted on X, “I welcome the progress made during the discussions between the United States of America and Ukraine held today in Jeddah, particularly regarding the idea of a possible 30-day ceasefire. The ball is now clearly in Russia’s court. France and its partners remain committed to a solid and lasting peace, supported by robust security guarantees for Ukraine.”

What Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Said?
Backing the US’ proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Washington needs to persuade Russia to accept it.
He said, “Ukraine welcomes this proposal, we consider it positive, we are ready to take such a step. The United States of America has to convince Russia to do this.”
“So we agree, and if the Russians agree, the ceasefire will work at that very moment,” he added.
