Tamil Nadu chief minister MK Stalin renewed his attack on Wednesday over the National Education Policy (NEP), calling it a “saffron policy” that aimed at developing Hindi not India.
Stepping up his attacks at an event in Tiruvallur, the DMK leader said, “The National Education Policy is not education policy. It is a saffronisation policy. The policy is not created to develop India but to develop Hindi. We are opposing the Policy as it would destroy the Tamil Nadu education system completely.”

“We are asking for your tax share, which we paid with our efforts. What is the problem with this? Is it fair to threaten without releasing funds for the welfare of 43 lakh schools? As we didn’t accept NEP, they are refusing to release funds that belong to Tamil Nadu. We would have welcomed the scheme if it brought everyone into education. But is NEP like that? NEP has all the factors that remove people from education. This is how this policy is, and that’s why we are opposing it,” he added, as per the ANI report.

“Have you (PM Modi) ever discussed issues with the State? You also said after forming a government in Union, you won’t take revenge from the opposition party government in the State irrespective of political differences. Now, I can give many examples of how you are taking forward only political revenge. Even now, you are taking political revenge by not giving Rs 2 thousand 150 crores to our teachers and students… You asked whether Gujarat is a begging State. I am asking the same question. Do you think Tamil Nadu is begging the State?” he questioned.
Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin stated that if a state government performs well and sets an example for the country, the Union Government should support it. However, he questioned whether the current Union Government is doing so, alleging that they are envious of Tamil Nadu’s progress and frustrated with the DMK for protecting the state’s interests. According to him, the Centre is deliberately creating obstacles and attempting to undermine Tamil Nadu in every possible way.
Stalin further recalled that when Narendra Modi was announced as the Prime Ministerial candidate, he had promised to shift from centralised planning in Delhi to a more state-inclusive approach. He challenged the Prime Minister, asking whether he had ever acted in line with that commitment over the past 10 years. Instead, he accused Modi and his ministers of doing the exact opposite, describing their governance as dictatorial, aimed at eroding state rights and dismantling the federal structure. Stalin also questioned what concrete steps had been taken to truly uphold federalism as promised.
He also alleged that in the name of vocational education, the central government is going to introduce caste-based education, as per the news agency PTI.

His allegation further hit out at the public exam for classes 3, 5, and emphasised that, “By conducting the public exam for classes 3, 5, they are trying to ‘filter’ students.”
