Anupam Kher is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming directorial, Tanvi The Great. On Thursday, the actor-director unveiled the first look poster of Jackie Shroff from the film, calling him his ‘brother from another mother.’ In the upcoming project, the veteran star will be seen portraying the role of an army officer, Brigadier Joshi. Taking to Instagram, Anupam dropped the first poster and penned a lengthy note reflecting on their decades-long professional and personal relationship, stating that Jackie’s wife, Ayesha, has been tying him a Rakhi for over 30 years.
“Actors of Tanvi THE GREAT: My friend #JackieShroff is actually my brother from another mother. We have not only worked together on many films, but we are also related. Few people know that his wife, Ayesha Shroff, has been tying Rakhi to me for more than 30 years,” Anupam wrote in the caption.
Furthermore, Anupam shared a touching anecdote about Jackie visiting him at home before the film’s casting was finalised. After hearing a few songs from the film, Jackie stood silent for a long time before embracing the actor-director and requesting him, “Don’t make this film without me.”
Adding to this, Anupam also shared details about Jackie’s character in Tanvi The Great. He wrote, “Brig. Joshi, like all Indian army officers, is larger than life. Strong, decisive, yet compassionate. His performance will be remembered for years! Thank you, Shroff, for your selfless friendship and great performance. You are a pillar of my strength. Both on and offscreen! Jai Hind!”
In no time, the comment section was flooded with reactions from fans and celebs alike. Jackie’s wife, Ayesha Shroff, dropped multiple red heart emoticons. Suniel Shetty also praised the actor’s words of affirmation. An Instagram user wrote, “Best wishes.” Another one commented, “Eagerly waiting.”
Apart from Jackie, the film also featured debutant Shubhangi and Game of Thrones star Iain Glen in the lead roles. The film’s music is composed by MM Keeravani, who is known for his work in RRR.
The makers are yet to announce the official release date of Tanvi The Great. It marks Anupam’s second directorial project after Om Jai Jagdish.
