The homegrown carmaker Tata Motors has been investing efforts to improve its fleet in India by making updates to its engine. Again, in a move to attract more customers, the company has acquired the licensing rights from Fiat and reportedly started working on the updated FAM B 2.0-litre engine.

The reports suggested that the brand is likely to use the updated engine in Harrier and Safari. It will generate better output and will allow the customers to offer a rooted driving experience. According to the reports, the FAM B 2.0-litre engine will be produced by Fiat, benefiting the brand by updating the engine on a different level.

Here’s What We Know So Far

The reports suggested that if everything goes as per the plan, the decision will allow the manufacturers to update the unit on multiple levels in a cost-effective way.

Earlier, Tata used to invest huge money to make certain changes or tune the engine that used to cost a bomb. After the deal, the company seems like it will ditch high-cost associates and choose to upgrade its engine independently, which will cost less as compared to before.

Launch Plan?

The upcoming engine projects are in process as yet. The company has not shared any official details on when it will start using it in its vehicles. However, some reports say that plans to power the fleet might kickstart by the year-end.

Power?

Talking about the power output, as per the details shared by the NDTV Auto, the new 2.0-litre diesel engine is likely to be tuned differently and generate different outputs. It is expected to offer somewhere around a maximum power of 180 bhp, while another tuned version might deliver 150 bhp for the lower trims.
