Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. will provide its wealth of knowledge in establishing and overseeing a large-scale EV charging network.
Tivolt Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd, the electric vehicle arm of the Murugappa Group, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) to boost e-mobility in the commercial vehicle sector.
This collaboration aims to create a robust EV charging ecosystem by combining Tivolt’s rapidly expanding fleet of small electric commercial vehicles with Tata Power’s extensive expertise in providing diverse EV charging solutions.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding, Tivolt Electric Vehicles’ dealerships, public areas, and client locations would benefit from Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd’s vast experience in establishing and overseeing a vast EV charging infrastructure.
The integration of solar energy systems to power Tivolt Electric Vehicles Pvt Ltd dealerships will also be investigated by Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd.
“Through our partnership with Tivolt, we are enhancing our EV charging network to empower the small and commercial vehicle segment—the key drivers of India’s economy—as they ensure seamless last-mile deliveries and efficient transportation,” Deepesh Nanda, the CEO and Managing Director of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd., commented on the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding, quoted by PTI.
“A robust and well-integrated EV ecosystem will accelerate the adoption of commercial EVs, thereby propelling India’s energy transition and paving the way for a more sustainable future,” Nanda added.
According to an official statement, TPREL has previously collaborated with other OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) to offer 200+ customised EV charging stations to clients in more than 100 cities, including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Pune and Kochi. The company focuses on simple charging solutions for small electric commercial vehicles.
At an event, Saju Nair, the CEO of Tivolt Electric Vehicles, and Virendra Goyal, the Head of Business Development-EV Charging at Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd., reportedly exchanged documents.
“We are excited to partner with Tata Power. This will be a key enabler in the electric adoption journey, and the strategic partnership will accelerate the development of EV charging infrastructure,” Nair stated quoted by the news agency.
Under the EZ Charge brand, TPREL has grown its network to include more than 1,00,000 residential chargers, 6,500 public, semi-public, and fleet charging stations, and more than 1,100 bus charging stations spread among 530 cities and towns.
