‘Tulsi Gabbard A Strong Votary Of India-USA Friendship’: PM Modi Meets US Intelligence Chief

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to post about his meeting with US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard in Washington DC, on Wednesday (local time).

During their discussion, they explored various aspects of the “India-US friendship”, emphasised on mutual cooperation and shared strategic interests. During his meeting, he congratulated on her confirmation as the DNI.

He took to X about the meet, and wrote, “Met USA’s Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard in Washington DC. Congratulated her on her confirmation. Discussed various aspects of the India-USA friendship, of which she’s always been a strong votary.”

Modi arrived in Washington on Wednesday, beginning his two-day visit to the US, during which he will hold a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump.

PM Modi, who is the fourth leader to visit the US after the January 20 inauguration of Trump, is scheduled to hold bilateral meeting with the US President in both restricted and delegation-level formats.

Modi reached the US late on Wednesday after leaving for Washington from Marseille in France, the second leg of his two-nation tour that began on February 10.

During the US trip, PM Modi will hold a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump seeking to shore up bilateral cooperation. A range of bilateral issues are expected to be on the table during the talks between the two leaders.

The Prime Minister’s visit comes nearly three weeks after the January 20 inauguration of Trump and amid tariff threats issued by the US leader in the recent past. The US will impose tariffs on the countries that “harm” America, President Trump had told House Republicans at a Florida retreat late January.
