Uber has introduced Courier XL in India – a new service under its logistics arm designed for larger, heavier deliveries up to 750kg.

The new offering uses both 3- and 4-wheeled goods carriers and promises a fast, reliable, and tech-enabled experience – all bookable through the Uber app.

What Is Courier XL?

Courier XL builds upon the success of Uber Courier, the company’s two-wheeler parcel delivery service. The new service is designed to help users – including small businesses and households – move large items like furniture, bulk inventory, or heavy parcels across the city, conveniently.

Key features include:

  • Real-time tracking
  • Upfront pricing
  • Seamless app-based booking
  • On-demand availability

When Do People Send Packages the Most?

Uber Courier usage shows some interesting trends:

  • 12 PM to 1 PM was the most popular time – possibly for sending lunch to homes and offices
  • Nearly 10 percent of deliveries in Delhi NCR happened after 11 PM
  • Peak days nationwide were Monday to Wednesday.

“Courier XL is our answer to a growing demand from users – especially small businesses and households – who need a reliable way to move heavier goods across the city. Whether it’s inventory, furniture, or large parcels, we’re making big moves simpler and smarter,” said Shiva Shailendran, Director – Consumer & Growth, Uber India South Asia.

Changing the Way India Sends Packages

India’s logistics sector is changing fast, and Uber Courier is playing a big part. In 2024, the average Courier trip distance was 11 km, with Delhi NCR and Mumbai handling longer trips at 14 km and 12 km respectively. Some deliveries even ranged from just 750 metres in Chennai to a whopping 134 km within Delhi NCR.

What’s Next?

Courier XL is now available in Delhi NCR and Mumbai, with more cities expected soon.
