Udupi Hit-And-Run: In Karnataka’s Udupi district, Mohammad Hussain, a 39-year-old resident, lost his life following a collision involving an SUV allegedly driven by Prajwal Shetty, the son of Congress leader Devi Prasad Shetty. The accident occurred in the early hours of November 13 near Shirva, NDTV reported.
According to the Times of India, Hussain was riding his motorcycle from Belapu towards Punchalakadu at around 5:00 AM when the SUV collided with his bike near Maria Bakery. The vehicle was reportedly being driven recklessly on the extreme right side of the road, causing the collision that left Hussain with severe injuries to his legs, hands, and head.
A CCTV video of the incident surfaced on social media showing moments of collision.

Udupi Hit-And-Run: Victim Dies, Father Says Prajwal Feld After Crash
Following the crash, Hussain was initially rushed to Ajjarkad Hospital in Udupi. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was referred to another hospital and transferred to a private facility in Manipal. Despite extensive medical efforts, Hussain succumbed to his injuries on the evening of November 14 at around 7:30 PM, Times of India stated.
The Shirva police registered a case under Sections 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 134(a) and (b) of the Indian Motor Vehicles (IMV) Act. The SUV involved was seized the same day, NDTV reported. Prajwal Shetty, the 26-year-old driver, was arrested on November 14 but was granted bail shortly after his arrest, according to sources cited by NDTV.
The complaint, filed by Ummarabba, 65, the father of the deceased and a resident of Belapu village, stated that Prajwal fled the scene without offering any assistance to Hussain, who lay injured on the road alongside his motorcycle, as per Times of India. The police have assured that the investigation will be expedited and a chargesheet will be filed promptly.
Devi Prasad Shetty, a well-known Congress leader from Belapu village, has not publicly commented on the matter.
