In a move to enhance the travel movement and provide better infrastructure, the Upper Ganga Canal Expressway project now has been resumed. The eight-lane expressway plan was originally launched back in 2013, and remains paused for almost 11 years.

According to the reports, the government now has set the deadline to complete the project by November 2025. It has been reported that the ambitious infrastructure project will boost the highway connectivity and link between Noida, Greater Noida, and Dehradun.

Connectivity and Budget

As work has been resumed on the project, it will now move forward and connect Greater Noida with Sanauta and Ghaziabad before getting stretched via Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, and Dehradun’s Purkazi.

Reports suggested that a budget of Rs 8,700 crore has been decided for the 147.8 km-long expressway. It will begin from the Sanauta bridge in Bulandshahr, stretching to Purkazi in Muzaffarnagar, and offer good connectivity towards Ganga Canal. It will reach the UP-Uttarakhand border.

USPs

Construction of a 23.5 km Link Expressway will be there, which will connect South-West Meerut to Meerut Airport. Apart from this, reports suggested that a new 3.5 km expressway will be created, located near NH-24 at Dasna Falls. It will further put extra feathers to the regional’s connectivity.

Benefits

To make the plan and project a big success, land has been provided at six strategic points, followed by a route to make the logistics infrastructure more strong. These steps are being taken to attract tourism, boost navigation, and develop more opportunities for the water sports facility.
