Launched in India in 2021, the Volkswagen Tiguan is set to get a sportier sibling, the Tiguan R Line, by April 2025.

Volkswagen India is all set to introduce sportier models like the Tiguan R Line, Golf GTI, and more.

Along with these exciting new releases, the German brand is also set to update the Virtus and Taigun in 2025.

Volkswagen Tiguan R Line

Launched in 2021, the Volkswagen Tiguan is getting a sporty update with the upcoming Tiguan R Line, which is expected to hit Indian roads by April 2025. The R Line will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, delivering 190 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. It will also feature a more aggressive design, including larger air intakes and a redesigned front bumper, alongside most elements from the global second-generation model.

Volkswagen Golf GTI

Volkswagen is finally bringing the Golf GTI back to India, with its launch expected by August 2025. This sporty hatchback will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, producing 265 bhp.

Revealed in April 2024, the India-bound Golf GTI will come with 18-inch Richmond diamond-cut alloy wheels, an aggressive bumper design, tartan seat upholstery, a GTI steering wheel, and more, making it a true performance hatch.

Gupta further added, “The two new carlines will be introduced in early Q2’2025 and will progressively strengthen the brands’ presence in India. Volkswagen India has had a fast start to 2025 with 3% growth in sales volumes YTD Feb’25 (vs. last year). We stay true to our commitment of delivering German – engineered, safe and fun-to-drive cars to the Indian market.”

Volkswagen Tayron

Volkswagen showcased the Tayron at the Beijing Motor Show, and it is now expected to debut in India by the end of 2025. The Tayron will compete with SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, and Jeep Meridian.

Powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, the Tayron offers two variants, with the base version generating 184 HP and 320 Nm of torque, and the top variant delivering 217 HP and 350 Nm. It will feature high-end comforts such as 10-point massaging seats with heating and cooling, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charging, and a head-up display.
