WBJEE 2025 Results Date 2025: Aspirants who appeared for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2025 are facing growing anxiety and confusion as the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) is yet to announce the result date. The delay follows an interim order by the Calcutta High Court, which stayed the implementation of recent state government decisions on OBC-A and OBC-B category reservations until July 31, 2025.
Aspirants told news18.com that despite repeated calls to the WBJEEB, the WBJEE 2025 results have still not been confirmed.
The social media platforms have been flooded with queries from thousands of students demanding clarity on when results will be released.
More than 1 lakh students from West Bengal and other states register annually for the WBJEE. The entrance exam is a gateway to undergraduate engineering, technology, pharmacy, and architecture courses offered by various institutions in the state.
Students say the delay is already affecting their academic and personal plans.
“I’ve received counselling dates from private colleges in other states, but I can’t decide without knowing my WBJEE rank. I want to study in West Bengal, but the delay is putting everything on hold,” said Sneha Roy, an aspirant.
Rajat, another aspirant, echoed similar concerns. “I prepared for WBJEE for two years. Now, due to this legal issue, I’m stuck in limbo. My parents are hesitant to pay fees elsewhere, hoping I’ll get a good WBJEE rank. It’s extremely stressful,” he said.
On May 15, WBJEEB Chairperson Sonali Chakraborty had indicated that the results “may be delayed” due to ongoing legal proceedings over the OBC quota. However, no official update has been issued since then.
With admissions to engineering and pharmacy colleges dependent on the WBJEE result, candidates are left waiting, uncertain whether results will be declared before or only after July 31.
What’s Delaying The WBJEE 2025 Result Announcement?
The delay in the WBJEE 2025 results is mainly due to a legal issue involving the OBC (Other Backward Classes) reservation policy in West Bengal.
On June 17, the Calcutta High Court issued an interim stay on executive notifications issued by the West Bengal government concerning reservations granted to 140 sub-categories under the OBC-A and OBC-B categories. The decision followed just days after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tabled the revised OBC list in the state Assembly. The Opposition BJP had raised objections, alleging that a significant number of newly added groups in the list belonged to the Muslim community.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Amal Chandra Das, which challenges the legality of the updated list. A division bench comprising Justice Tapabrata Chakraborty and Justice Rajasekhar Mantha ruled that all related executive orders issued between May 8 and June 13 will remain suspended until July 31, pending further review.
Although the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) has not officially linked the delay to the court case, the results include category-wise ranks, which are important for admissions under reserved quotas. The ongoing legal proceedings may be affecting the release schedule.
