David Beckham visited India in November 2023 as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. During his trip, he attended the Cricket World Cup semi-final between India and New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium, in Mumbai. The football icon also appeared as a special guest in a Meta event where many Indian social media influencers had the opportunity to interact with him. Among them was popular content creator Jannat Zubair and she recently recalled the ‘special’ encounter. Looking back at the meeting, the actress shared that she couldn’t believe how welcoming Beckham was and claimed that his warm, grounded personality made the moment unforgettable.
In a recent conversation with Pinkvilla, Jannat shared the backstory of her selfie with the football legend. She said, “This is such a special picture. I was very happy, very excited but extremely nervous to talk to him. But then I walked in the room, he was just so warm, so welcoming, so nice, I was like, ‘Is he for real, is he the real Beckham,’ because he was just so nice. So we had a conversation, I asked if I could take a selfie and he’s like, ‘Yeah of course, you can,’ and then we took this picture. Then he also sent me a gift at my house.”
After meeting David Beckham, Jannat Zubair shared a video of their interaction on Instagram. In the clip, the influencer could be heard saying, “Thank you for coming, I’m so nervous and excited at the same time. Thank you making our day, our week.” When she asked him about his experience in India, Beckham responded, “It’s been incredible, I had an amazing few days, it was a special trip.”
Later, when Jannat asked Beckham about his experience watching the Cricket World Cup match in Wankhede Stadium, the footballer shared, “The atmosphere in the stadium was amazing, it was exciting to be there, such a historical moment, it was special.” Jannat also asked about Indian food, to which, Beckham said that he was enjoying Indian cuisine every night and spoke about trying a spicy lobster dish, which he found amazing.
