During the interaction with judges, Rahul revealed being introduced to the concept of men’s makeup by his friends from other countries.
In the latest Shark Tank India 4 episode, Rahul Shah, the founder of Yaan Men from Ahmedabad brought an interesting makeup brand to the tank. Designed particularly for men, the brand comprised all the makeup products to beautify men’s facial features. During the interaction with judges, the pitcher revealed being introduced to the concept of men’s makeup by his friends from other countries. For his brand dedicated to all Indian men, the pitcher asked for Rs 60 Lakhs for 6 per cent equity.
Amid the conversation, Vineeta Singh recalls her internship in the UK fifteen years back as she said, “While I was doing an internship in the UK, it was so common where all my banker friends would wear concealers to hide their dark circles. In contrast, in India, even in 2024 it is so difficult to convince the men in my life to even wear sunscreen.”
As the show proceeded, Rahul showcased his products to the sharks, prompting reactions from them. Aman Gupta, then, took the conversation forward as he joined in to add everyone in his circle cares about makeup.
Namita Thapar also highlighted, “A lot of gay men apply makeup, it is a very common thing. More like a cultural community thing. So do you think Aman’s friends or a lot of other men don’t put it because of the perception that gay men put it? So they shouldn’t.” While Rahul affirms, Vineeta and Aman have a different point of view.
Vineeta Singh goes on to enquire about Rahul’s family background. Replying that he comes from a family of businessmen, the pitcher shared that they were only concerned about the sales and not about the product he was selling. Revealing the revenue of his family business, the pitcher also revealed that it was worth Rs 500 crore.
Furthermore, Rahul also shed light on incurring losses from his start-up, which he compensates with his consulting business. When asked what he would do to get funding from Shark Tank India by Anupam Mittal, the pitcher replied, “I would try to die down the consulting business. I am not sure at what cost I will end it but I would navigate some way.”
Although Rahul impressed the sharks with his quick responses, Vineeta Singh decided to opt out of the deal. Namita had more questions to ask, following which she opted out. Meanwhile, Aman offers him Rs 50 Lakhs for 10 per cent equity. Anupam, too, offers Rs 50 Lakhs for 9 per cent equity. Rahul suggests both the sharks come together. Obliging him, Anupam says, ‘Rs 1 crore for 20 per cent equity’. In the end, Rahul seals the deal, leaving everyone surprised.
